New Range Rover Electrically Deployable Tow Bar

The electrically deployable and retractable tow bar combines maximum operating convenience with seamless integration into the vehicle design. It is conveniently deployed and retracted via a switch in the cargo area or – depending on the vehicle equipment – via the touchscreen. Thanks to integrated obstacle detection, the system automatically stops when encountering resistance, thus providing additional safety. In the retracted state, both the tow bar and the integrated 13-pin electrical connection disappear invisibly behind the rear bumper, preserving the vehicle's elegant appearance.

The tow bar features an integrated nose weight measurement function up to 200 kg and is approved for towing capacities up to 3,500 kg and a nose weight of 195 kg. For plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models, the permissible towing capacity is up to 2,500 kg.

For added convenience, an integrated trailer lighting test system allows for easy checking of all trailer lights – including brake and tail lights – without external assistance. Activation is done via the switch in the cargo area or the touchscreen, depending on vehicle equipment. Retrofitting also activates the Trailer Stability Assist (TSA). The system detects dangerous trailer swaying and helps the driver restore vehicle stability through targeted braking interventions and a reduction in engine power.
